Family Time

We've had a lot of together time this week as we hang around the hospital and people come and go.  (To find out our schedule this week read my blog.)  Kathy has spent the majority of her time at the hospital, but we've managed to get her out of there every day.  She spent the night the first night, but has stayed at my house every other night except last night when she stayed at the hotel with Clint, Susan, & her boyfriend, Dale.  She'll be back at my house tonight.  We've eaten out WAYYY too much, which is WAYYYY too expensive!  (And I'm tired of it!)  I'm sure Dale has wished us away at times, and in fact, has told people to go!  Kath thinks he's a little cranky at times the past few days.  I think that's good because it means he feels good enough to care!  Brittany has been there every day--sometimes with Rory and Evan, sometimes not. Clint has been there most days, but did go home to do chores for a couple days.  Pat and Harold were there Wed.-Fri.  Dale's aunt and uncle were there Wed. (I forgot which ones.)  Maggie Jesse stopped up the day of surgery too.  Sandy, Nick, and Amanda were there the day of surgery.  Tasha has been there every day, usually two or three visits a day as she can just walk over on her breaks.  She even took lunch on Friday.  Trilby and boys were up last night. Kyle and Tasha were up last night. Mom and I have been there every day.  Bud's been there every day except Wednesday.  So, it's been a revolving door in Dale's room and the waiting room on his floor.  I have to say we haven't had ANY screaming and fighting like the family some of us watched fighting the other day!  (I know emotions run high in those situations, but really!)

Dale has gotten rid of several tubes today. (see Kathy's post) He's been spending some time in his bed and getting more rest.  He looks better every dayl

I'll leave you with some more photos.  Evan enjoys the elevators and pushing the buttons.  We went on the escalator just for fun!
We had pizza last night at the motel.
The kids (Trilby, Clint, Brittany, Payton, Cael, Nate, and Evan) went swimming.

We watched Evan pout and put himself in time out.
We visited Grayson on Saturday.
And sometimes we just look at smart aleck people!

Dale's nose tube was removed this morning and they also took out the epideral. They have to wait about 6 hours until they take his cathader out. They removed his small drain tube for his incision by his neck and he pulled his heart monitor off. He said they don't need that anymore, so he just took it off. He is getting very antsy and wants out! They are still scheduled to do the swallow study tomorrow to make sure his new esophagus is not leaking and if that turns out, he gets out tomorrow. Alleluah!

Dale had a good nights sleep last night with the help of some morphine and is feeling better today. He had a fever of 102 yesterday, but it is down to 98 today. The doctors said it was normal to have a slight fever after surgery. They had him up taking walks yesterday and he did really well. He had a cart in front of him with all his pumps for his chest tubes, his nose tube, his J-tube,his pee bag and his IV cart, but it did not slow him down. He took 4 walks yesterday. This morning they took his two chest tubes out and he says it feels alot better with those out. He will get a J-tube feeding today for the first time. That will be his first type of food since Tuesday. He has been getting nurishment through an IV since his surgery.

Dale's parents went home this morning. They were going to stick around if his fever persisted, but Pat felt good about leaving since his fever was gone. Mom is here at the hospital, Clint went home this morning to feed the cows big round bales and get them restocked to get by for a day or two. He will be back tomorrow. I am staying at Kim & Buds. 25 minute drive isn't bad. We left the hospital last night at 10:30 and I was back at 7. Brittany has been by after work and will keep checking in.

I will post more later.

Happy Birthday to you Kim and Brittany. Update no baby yet Doc says sometime in the next 2 weeks. He really narrowed it down for us.HAHA

Happy Birthday, Brittany! (and Kim)

28 years ago today Kathy and Dale were blessed with a dark haired tiny little girl.  Mom called me early in the morning to tell me that Kathy had had her baby.  I was thrilled to have a new niece on my birthday.  Suffice it to say Brittany hasn't been thrilled to "share" his birthday with her aunt.  Somewhere along the line she forgot it was MY birthday first and I'm sharing my day with her!!  I used to have a birthday cake of my own and then I had to SHARE.  I even had to eat cake with spit on it because SOMEONE had to blow out the candles first!!  (and it wasn't me)  Seriously, I'm happy to share the day, and I was hoping for a new grandchild on the day, but that didn't happen.  So, now I'm hoping for a great niece born today.  So, Becca, go for a long walk, mess around with Chase, and have that baby today!!!

Dale is set for surgery at 7:15 AM tomorrow morning, 2/24/10. We have to be at the hospital at 5:30 AM. Dale is so ready for the surgery, so he can start healing and get back to everyday life. It will be a long recovery, but he is ready for it. I will try to post something when he is out of surgery.

First Championship!

Payton wrestled in Tipton on Sunday. It was a very long day. There were over 400 wrestlers. Payton weighed in at 11:00 am but didn't hit the mats until about 2:45. Mike and I took Payton over and Travis, Kerry, and Chance joined us. Payton wrestled 2 different wrestlers and had a bye one round. He did terrific!! As most people know, I am somewhat emotional! To say the least! I couldn't believe my eyes when Payton pinned his first wrestler! It was incredible to watch! He has improved so much this year and is really starting to coordinate all his wrestling moves. Of course I couldn't contain myself and was blubbering like a baby because I was so proud of him and excited! The next round he had a bye. So it was about a 2 hour wait until he wrestled the last time. I was worried about the 3rd round because it was a girl but we kept telling him not to worry about that. She is just another wrestler. He pinned her! He placed 1st in his bracket and that is the first time in 4 years of wrestling! Very exciting! He got a medal, a t-shirt that has champion on the back and a poster with the bracket info on it. Of course the season is over but what a terrific way to end it. We are now looking forward to flag football that starts at the end of March!

Chance's First Wrestling Meet

Friday night we took Chance to the Iowa vs. Northwestern wrestling meet. He had a blast! He loved the noise, the people, and he absolutely loved the band! I know, I think we are going to have to do a DNA test on this kid...he can't possibly be mine! Of course we had to get a few pictures. Here he is with Dan Gable. He might not be impressed now, but hopefully he will be in the future!
He was much more impressed with the Iowa Pom Pon squad! We had a great time and can't wait to go back for the last home meet on Friday. Maybe Chance will get to meet Herky!

Grayson Bradley Roos

Introducing Grayson Bradley Roos!
Grayson was having a hard time keeping his temperature up, so he is in the warmer and we can't hold him.  He was also doing some "flaring".  Which means his nostrils were flaring out meaning he was having a hard time breathing.  They aren't terribly concerned, so they don't plan to put him in NICCU.  But they are being cautious.  He sounds like a kitten at times.  We haven't seen him with his eyes open yet.  Everyone is doing fine.

Check out my blog for a few more photos.

Becca's baby shower was held Saturday Feb. 13. I know Trina and Tanner will not remember that date for that event. A birthday is much more eventful. By the way love the name. I finally got a picture of Rebecca pregnant. Her mom, dad, and grandma came from Iowa. They also brought the babies bed and dresser, I hope Chase gets them put together before the little one is born.

Newest Family Member!

Grayson Bradley Roos was born last night about 10:00 p.m.
Stats: 6 lbs. 3 oz.
          21"
          brownish hair

Photos to come later today!

Dale started losing his hair from the cemo, so a week ago he had me shave his head and face. He looks very different. I told him that he looks more like Mike without his beard. He informed me that Mike looks like him because he was born first. He has not been without his beard in 32 years. He is alittle cold without it and hopes it will grow back fast. He is done with cemo and his last day of radiation was yesterday. He is very excited about not having to do all that bull_ _ _ _! everyday. Dr. Mercer, (his cancer doctor) started him on morphine for his pain in his throat. We are hoping he will be able to tolerate eating alittle bit more with that pain killer kicking in. He is feeling better everyday. Yesterday he even put his coveralls on and went outside to help Clint. That was the first time in about three weeks. He will continue to get fluids through his port until the surgery. We did get it arranged to go to DeWitt for that, instead of driving to Davenport everyday. Hopefully we can keep Dale healthy and not lose anymore weight until his surgery on February 24th. I will post more later.
Love

Wedding Plans

Hey ya'll! Just thought I would stop in and tell everyone whats been going on here. As you may know Josh popped the question the day after Christmas....YAY! So now we are planning the wedding. We have set the date for July 31st, 2010 in Dalhart at St. Anthony's Church. I went to Texas to find a wedding dress and bridesmaid dresses. I found the dress and the girls picked their dresses out too. I have ordered the save the dates and they should be in soon so I can get them mailed out. We have chosen our colors which are orange and green (since Josh's last name is Carritt we are going with the carrott theme)! It has been fun so far. I will keep ya'll updated as things progress!

P.S. I will try to get pictures of my ring up soon!!
Love ya'll
