Happy 70th Mom!!

Mom was born exactly 70 years ago today!
    • It seems rather fitting that Mom shares a birthday with this man:
  • Born: 29 March 1918
  • Birthplace: Kingfisher, Oklahoma
  • Died: 6 April 1992 (multiple myeloma)
  • Best Known As: Founder of discount retailer Wal-Mart
Sam Walton, with his brother Bud Walton, founded Wal-Mart, the chain of discount variety stores that in the 1990s became the world's largest retailer. Sam Walton went into the retail business in 1945, and by the time Wal-Mart first opened in 1962 he owned a chain of 15 variety stores in Arkansas, Missouri and Oklahoma. Walton's savvy marketing skills and attention to detail led to Wal-Mart's expansion throughout the United States. By 1990 Wal-Mart was the nation's top retailer in terms of sales, and Walton was one of the richest men in the world. After his death in 1992 the company continued to expand, including online commerce and stores around the world. By 2001 there were more than 4,500 Wal-Mart stores worldwide.

Mom certainly helped make him a rich man!!!  LOL!!

More advice from Maxine:
Have a great day, MOM!!!

Iowa on the right

Where would you rather be today?????
Iowa State Song Written by S.H.M. Byers
To the music of Tannenbaum
You asked what land I love the best, Iowa, tis Iowa,
The fairest State of all the west, Iowa, O! Iowa,
From yonder Misissippi's stream
To where Missouri's waters gleam
O! fair it is as poet's dream, Iowa, in Iowa.
See yonders fields of tasseled corn, Iowa in Iowa,
Where plenty fills her golden horn, Iowa in Iowa,
See how her wonderous praries shine.
To yonder sunset’s purpling line,
O! happy land, O! land of mine, Iowa, O! Iowa.
And she has maids whose laughing eyes, Iowa, O! Iowa.
To him whose loves were Paradise, Iowa, O! Iowa
O! happiest fate that e’er was known.
Such eyes to shine for one alone,
To call such beauty all his own. Iowa, O! Iowa
Go read the story of thy past. Iowa, O! Iowa
What glorious deeds, what fame thou hast! Iowa, O! Iowa
So long as time’s great cycle runs,
Or nations weep their fallen ones,
Thou’lt not forget thy patriot sons, Iowa, O! Iowa

Nana, Grandpa, and the Boys

It is VERY hard to get five little boys and two adults to look the same way at the same time.  I can tell our Christmas picture is going to be hard to get!!This was Grayson's first introduction to his cousins.  Fun times are ahead!!

Well I haven't posted about Dale for awhile, so I thought I would give you alittle update. Dale got to start on clear liquids yesterday and was very excited about that. One of the big things to watch for when he first starts anything down his throat is drainage and leaking. We were up at 5:00 AM to give him his meds and of course he was excited to start drinking again. So, I poured him a glass of juice, he started drinking it, looked at me and smiled real big and said "Well, am I leaking". I busted a gut. Haven't had much to laugh at lately and it was nice to get a smile out of him also. He is feeling better everyday and we are weening him off of his meds. By the beginning of the week, he should be off of them completely. He is losing weight everyday, but hopefully he will start to maintain now that he can add a few more calories to his diet. I will post a picture later if he will let me take one.

Nothing exciting!!

We don't have any exciting news. Just everyday stuff. Nate and I met Trina, Tanner and Grayson on Saturday to hit Fashion Bugs big sale. Trina and I got a lot of new clothes for very little money! We also had lunch and ran some other errands. Mike, Payton, and Cael sheared sheep on Saturday getting ready for lambing season, which will start roughly around the 15th or so. I went to get the boys about 6:00 Saturday night only to find both boys with fevers and Cael had the chills. When we got home and showered Cael got sick. We spent the day on Sunday watching the race and just relaxing as both boys weren't quite up to par. Nate, Cael and I stayed home Monday and watched movies. I did do laundry, ran the dishwasher etc. but they mostly laid on the couch until late morning. They started to feel terrific around 1:00 and I was ready to kick them out!! They were like wild indians!! I did get to watch "Twilight" at one point when the went upstairs to play. I was not very willing to read the books and buy into all the hype but in the end I really enjoyed them and would love my own set of the books so that I can read them again. I am waiting to get "New Moon" from my niece. We are in between sports right now and are enjoying the down time. I am looking forward to next week I am off of work for a couple of days for Spring Break. I can't wait!

We got Dale home from the hospital last nite about 7:00. He was very happy to see his recliner. He took a nap as soon as we got home. It was not a good nite. His feedings ran out about 3:00 AM, they were suppose to last all nite. We refilled and went back to bed. He could not sleep because he had so much drainage down his throat. He added another pillow and that did not seem to help. He then got up and went to his recliner to watch TV and sleep. I set my alarm for 5:00 AM to give him some more pain killer. Went back to bed to try to get some more sleep. We are all sleep deprived right now and are needing to get into a routine. We have to flush his feeding tube every three hours and he gets pain medication every 6, (which is too far between times for him). The VNA (visiting nurses) will come today to check out his incision and help Dale with anything that he may need. Hopefully we will get his routine down and things will settle down alittle.
