More Wrestling

Here are three pictures of Payton wrestling at the Williamsburg Tournament. As you can see, he dominated this match!

Trina and I went to the Penn State (13) vs. Iowa (1) wrestling meet on Friday night. This was the first wrestling meet that I've ever been to. The Penn State coach Cael Sanderson showed his temper at one point in the match. The U of I student body let him hear it with chants such as "Cael's no Gable!" and Cale's For Sale!" Overall it was a really fun experience. I willing to go to another meet soon.

At the end of the meet Dan Gable was signing autographs and taking pictures with fans. As the line got smaller, I suggested that Trina get her picture taken with Coach Gable. At first Trina thought it would be fun. Then she got really embarrassed. She decided not to do it. A few minutes later Coach Brandt came out to sign autographs with Coach Gable. That would have been a great picture.

Wrestling

Payton wrestled at the Williamsburg Tournament yesterday. When we went to weigh in, we weren't sure that he was going to get to wrestle. We had gotten a call from the coach the night before saying that he didn't have anyone that matched Payton in size or experience but I told him we would come in anyway just in case. Good thing we did! Payton wrestled 2 different boys. He had a bye the first round. The second round he wrestled a boy he knows and they wrestle at practice occasionally. He did a good job. On the third round he did great! He didn't win but was very close! Had the ref been in a different position I think he would have gotten a pin! He has shown a lot of improvement this year! He just needs a win to boost his confidence! Mom, Dad, Trina, and Tanner were the to help cheer him on. After the tournament was over all of us went to lunch at McDonalds. Mom or Trina will have to post pictures as I forgot my camera!!

Old English Cheese

Question:  When is an Old English Cheese container not really an Old English Cheese container?????

Do you know?????????

Ruthie??????   Mom????????  You two should know!!!

Answer:  When it holds a "hot toddy" for Grandpa Ott!!

Every time I buy or use one of these containers of cheese I think of Grandpa.  I don't know how many hot toddies I made for him.  Too many to count, I'm sure!  For you youngsters who might not know, a hot toddy for Grandpa Ott was a shot of whiskey, a teaspoon of sugar, and then top it off with hot water. (If I remember correctly!)

What makes you think of a family member??????

Angel Fire Weekend

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CHASE!!

Happy Birthday, Chase!  I hope you had a good one!

Owens Update

The Owens family has just started our second week of Mike working 1st shift. Mike has worked at Amana for 18 years but has never worked anything other than 2nd shift. As many of you know Mike is not a morning person but so far has adjusted rather well! The boys are so thrilled that he is home at night to tuck them in, read them books and to just generally be around! I enjoy it too. He is in charge of making supper on Monday nights because I am at wrestling practice with Payton until 7:00. Payton is doing great in wrestling. He has done a couple of tournaments and will wrestle in Williamsburg this Sunday at their tournament. Payton started swimming at school yesterday. They bus some of the kids to the high school where the pool is at. He absolutely loved that! Cael is really enjoying kindergarten and even read a good portion of a book to me last night! Nate is loving the new puppy that his daycare provider, Connie, has. Nate is full of energy and is repeating pretty much everything that is said. A mixed blessing!! Last night he was saying to Mike the line that Jackie Gleason said in the Honeymooners, "Why I otta!, Too the Moon Alice!!" shaking his fist at Mike the whole time! Hilarious!! I will try to get somewhere to post some pictures of the boys. I haven't figured out how to do that at school yet.

Kim I created a slide show.(Ithink) But can not get it to load on blog. Are you the only one that can do a slide? And if so give me instructions on loading pictures please. At least my post published. Give me an E for effort.
Hopefully I am doing this right. This is my first blog post. We were in Angel Fire, New Mexico this past weekend. We saw a lot of elk, and deer. Dean saw a bobcat, of course I did not have my camara ready.Bev, Ruthie, Judd, and Chanessa came up Saturday night and stayed at the cabin we rented. I am going to try and make a slide show with some of the pictures I took. We will see how I do with that. And by the way facebook is easier.

Trina's Shower

The girls had a shower for Trina on Saturday.  We met at Lone Star in CR for appetizers, played games, and opened gifts. The men joined us after that for a late lunch/early supper.

The  pregnant girls line up to show us their bellies! Oh, and Bud had to get in the picture.  We think his is the biggest!

Trina--due March 2nd, Brittany--due June 24th, Tasha--due July 14th.
See my blog for more info, OR hopefully someone else will post more here!

Dale had his last test today. Hopefully for awhile anyway. He has radiation every morning at 7:20 and can't eat or drink anything until after it is over, so he has been fighting nausea. He can keep it at bay if he has something in his stomach. Tomorrow will mark his first week of cemo and radiation. He will have his port cleaned, a new needle put in and a new bag of cemo put in his pump. 4 1/2 weeks to go! Thanks to everyone for the calls on his birthday. I am getting my house back in order from the crazy weekend. It was really nice having a house full of family!
